Max On Life: Answers and Inspiration for Today's Questions, Review

I want to start by saying that this book was fantastic!  I guess I had not completely read the description of it when I requested to review it.  I expected to pick this book up and have to fly through it so I could fit it in over a weekend.  I thought I would need to sit down with my coffee and read it cover to cover.  Max On Life is not the kind of book that is meant to be read straight through.

In this book, Max Lucado answers questions that people have submitted to him about life, faith, relationships, and well, just everything.  Each section has a theme with several questions.  Each question is answered succinctly in 1-2 pages.

I really liked that I could flip through the book and find answers to some great questions that I was curious about.  I love that this does not read like a text book either.  It is personal and easy to read.  I highly recommend Max On Life to anyone that has questions related to faith.  I would love to keep this book on my shelf for a long time so I can refer back to it again and again.  However, I know that if it lands on my shelf, it's likely to get lost.  So I had to do the sensible thing and give it away to someone else who will use it again and again.

Love Food & Live Well: Book Review

When I chose to review Love Food & Live Well, I expected to get a book about diet and fitness.  Chantel Hobbs writes about so much more than physical health.  Her book is about learning who you are in Christ and how that impacts your decisions about things like food choice, body image, and loving yourself.  This is her third book and it is obvious as a reader that they build on each other to make a great spiritual and physical wellness plan for men and women.

Hobbs is well-spoken and touches the heart of her readers.  She helps look at what is going on in the soul and mind that might make weight loss and healthy living difficult.  She gives great practical suggestions about how to face difficulties in our lives that make us rely on food instead of God.

I found this book difficult to read, not because of the wording or the subject, but because I wanted to soak it all in.  This was a must - read - slowly book.  If I could tell Chantel one thing, I would like to thank her for sharing her personal story and inspiring others to achieve greatness and buy into God's deal for their lives.

Eat Your Peas Faithfully: Simple Truths and Happy Insights by Cheryl Karpen is a treasure.  This book shares encouraging words to the reader in short snippets.  Each bit of shared wisdom is backed by scripture!  This is a quick read that will stick with you!

I really enjoyed reading Eat Your Peas Faithfully.  In fact, I liked it so much that I couldn't keep it to myself.  The beautiful pages and great inspirational words needed to be shared, so I gave it to someone I love!  The message of the book was clearly personal value, I can think of so many people that need to see their value in God's eyes!  Make sure to check this book out and consider buying it for someone you love.

Izzyr's Popstar Plan

Izzy's Popstar Plan is a devotional for young teenage girls.  It follows the life of Izzy, who desires to become (what else) a popstar.  She is on the road to fame and has some hiccups to work through.  This devotional is written like a blog.  It is fun and easy to follow.  Each day includes a story about Izzy's life, some scripture, and a short prayer for the day.

I really enjoyed reading Izzy's Popstar Plan.  It was a fun read with nice, short entries.  I love Izzy's journey.  What makes this devotional even cooler is that it's linked to a special website with all kinds of fun extras.  Check it out - http://www.izzyspopstarplan.com.  I think this book would be a great hit with several young teen girls.  I can't wait to share it!

Review: God Loves Us So Much

This sweet children's book is actually 3 books in 1!  I was so excited to read this and share it with my boys.  I LOVE the way Lisa Tawn Bergen teaches children about serious subjects through her friend "Little Bear."  Little Bear is full of questions about life and faith.  Her family is very good at answering her questions.  Each book is a conversation between Little Bear and one of her older, wiser family members.

This collection includes: God Gave us the World which is about why bears are all different and why we should take care of the Earth, God Gave us Love tells us about what it means to love other people, and God Gave us Heaven answers tough questions about why people go to Heaven and what it might be like.

The limited edition set is beautifully written and illustrated.  The lessons are easy to understand.  I highly recommend the whole series to parents everywhere.

You can buy it on amazon.com for $13.59!

Lioness Arising

Lisa Bevere has written to women around the world.  She invites all women to study with her, the ways of the lioness.  What powerful imagery she shares with her reader.  Lisa's book is empowering to its reader.  Each chapter describes an aspect of what it means to be a lioness, and what it means to be a woman.  She does a great job helping her reader learn to be Godly women full of His strength and might.

I recommend this book to women everywhere.  I plan to share it with the women in my mom group and hope that they feel uplifted and empowered after reading it also.

You can buy Lioness Arising here for $14.99.

I received Lioness Arising free for review from WaterbrookMultnomah Publishing.  I was in no other way compensated for this review.  All opinions are my own.
